‘Love Aaj Kal’ among top five openers of all times

Mumbai: The publicity of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ was not out-of-the-box and no one expected it to become the record smasher that it has turned out to be. After breaking the record of super-hit action flick ‘Ghajini’, now it has speeded ahead to be among the top five bumper-grossers of all times. Saif and Deepika have a big reason to open the bubblies!With the latest count of the opening weekend, LAK can be ranked among the top grosser like ‘Ghajini’ (Aamir Khan, Asin), ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ (Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka), ‘Singh Is Kinng’ (Akshay Kumar, Katrina), and ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ (Akshay, Kareena).

The credit goes not solely to the perfect timing of feeding a movie-starved public after the drought, but also to a conglomeration of reasons. Firstly, Saif and Deepika, who enjoy a massive following individually, were cast opposite each other for the first time. Secondly, director Imtiaz Ali had raised expectations after his delivery of ‘Jab We Met’. Then Pritam had done a wonderful job of background score and music direction. And not to forget the enthusiastic promotion to back it all!

And just like ‘Jab We Met’, Imtiaz has handled a contemporary issue with a very balanced viewpoint. The result is – a bumper BO return!
