Review: ‘Toss’ fails to toss up the silver screens

Director Ramesh Khatkar’s ‘Toss’ joins the league of the not so interesting thriller flicks made in Bollywood.
The flick starring- Ashmit Patel, Rannvijay Singh, Aarti Chabria and Prashant Raj is an uninteresting attempt. All Khatkar seems to be interested in is camera work, which he surely excels at but guess he’s forgotten the fact that one has to add a strong storyline to gel with the thrilling scenes.

The thriller thrills, but only in bits making it a regular and shoddy flick. Who would want to see a flick with little meat and overpowering scenes?

‘Toss’ tells the story of a bunch of friends who, on their way back from a vacation, stumble upon a fortune. They decide to split the money and start dreaming a king`s life. Soon, before they realise the owners of the booty are after them, the law is after them and worse, they are after each other.

What’s bad here is the fact that the director takes a very long time to come to the point. The performances are missable. Prashant Raj seems to be the only promising actor out here. Rannvijay seems wooden. Mahesh Manjrekar, Sushant Singh and Vijay Raaz - all seem wasted. Music by Sandesh Shandilya seems run of the mill.

Verdict: Two stars.

The film was made well with good public message, good cinematography, and sincere artists. I think the debutants in the film deserve cheers for their attempt as well as the director. It does convey a very relevant social message. - Arun - Chennai
