Los Angeles: Hollywood superstar Matt Damon will be honoured with a life time achievement award for his contribution in the world of cinema.
The 38-year-old Oscar-winner, who is known for movies like `Saving Private Ryan`, `The Goodwill Hunting`, `The Bourne series` and `The Departed`, will be awarded by American Cinematheque in 2010, a news website reported.

The Hollywood star will reportedly accept the honour in person at a ceremony to be broadcast on March 27 on ABC.

The other Hollywood stars, who have received the award in the past include Al Pacino, Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Samuel L Jackson.

Damon will be next seen onscreen in the much-awaited movie `The Informant!` where he plays the character of a whistleblower.

Damon, who gained 40 pounds for his role, will play Mark Whitacre, a vice-president who turns against his own company after discovering its price fixing scheme in the movie, inspired by a true story.
