New Delhi: Following in footsteps of Farah Khan and Prabhudeva, choreographer Remo D`Souza is set to don the director`s cap for his upcoming film `Faltu` and the debutante claims that he will be bigger and better than his counterparts.
Farah made a phenomenal debut with her Shahrukh Khan starrer `Main Hoon Na` in 2004, whereas India`s answer to Michael Jackson, Prabhudeva helmed `Wanted` and gave Salman Khan a much needed blockbuster after a long spell of flops.
Catching up with the trend, Remo, who has choreographed films like `Wake Up Sid`, `London Dreams`, `Tum Mile`, `Do Knot Disturb` in the recent past, is brimming with confidence and believes that he will outshine his seniors as a director.
"I will not only repeat their success stories but will be bigger than them," Remo told reporters in a telephonic interview.
The 35-year-old dance-instructor-turned-director has already roped in bigwigs like Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor for `Faltu` which is going to be a college drama inspired from his own life. The film also casts Jackky Bhagnani whose debut film `Kal Kisne Dekha` bombed at the box office.
When asked whether he was apprehensive to cast Jackky, Remo said, "I believe that it is the script which can make or break an actor. Even Shahrukh and Salman are nobody if they do not work in a good script. Moreover, as far as I know Jackky`s film might have flopped but his performance was appreciated."
`Faltu`, produced by Vashu Bhagnani and scripted by Mayur Puri of `Om Shanti Om` fame will see Dutt and Kapoor playing "chilled out" professors in the film.
Talking about the unusual title, Remo said, "The film has been named `Faltu` because the characters do not take themselves seriously but then the undercurrent of the film is
about education and it holds a message."
Remo, who considers movie legend Satyajit Ray as his inspiration, has earlier directed a Bengali film `Lal Paharer Katha` starring Mithun Chakraborty in a lead role. The film
revolved around Chhou, a tribal dance form of Orissa and West Bengal.
However, the choreographer who is set to make Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay Kumar dance on his tunes in Vipul Shah`s `Action Replay` stated that dancing will never
take a back seat in his life.
"Choreography is my first love and it will never take a backseat even after I turn a director. It was through directing music videos that I realised that I can helm a full
fledged a film.
Remo has also been roped to choreograph the Michael Jackson`s tribute song which stars Jermaine along with musician Adnan Sami.
"Jermain says that this is going to be the something special for the Jackson` Indian fans. The video will have some Jackson`s hit dance steps combined with Bollywood moves," Remo said.
