Mumbai: 26/11 is no ordinary date in the history of India as it is associated with one of the most inhuman and dastardly acts of violence perpetrated against mankind. Today, it’s the first anniversary of the shocking Mumbai carnage that shook the entire nation. Bollywood celebrities say 26/11 was an event that united Mumbai residents and should never be forgotten.

Hotel Taj, Leopold Café, Cama Hospital and Nariman House in Mumbai explain the horrid tale of bloodshed, when ten armed terrorists took the city on hostage.

In order to pay heart-felt tributes to the victims and heroes of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Bollywood celebrities got together and shared their views on the terror attacks, remembering those who lost their lives.

While megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently joined the chorus for a special anthem as a tribute to the victims of the 26/11 terror attack, actor Shah Rukh Khan joined a unique attempt to remember the lost heroes and victims by painting a wall at Marine Lines.

Here's what the celebs said:

Shah Rukh Khan: I am feeling more Indian after 26/11. I’m happy to witness the new movement that’s gripping India to bring about change. For peace in our nation, there needs to be peace in our hearts.

Aamir Khan: It was a very tragic event, but the tragedy brought the people of Mumbai together and closer. We also saw the bravery of our police forces and security agencies. It was a sad thing and I hope we learn from it.

Kareena Kapoor: We feel horrible about what happened on the night of 26/11 last year, and we pray for the souls of all who lost their lives fighting terror in Mumbai. May their soul rest in peace.

John Abraham: It hurts me deeply when I see the kind of security an undeserving politician gets and I’m speaking as a normal citizen... because I am a normal citizen.

Bipasha Basu: I hope the government will be responsible enough and act now. We pay taxes and as a responsible citizen, I am questioning where’s the money going? I need an answer...

Akshay Kumar: It's unfortunate that something like this happened. My wife Twinkle was there at the Taj that day. Fortunately, she had left the premise at around 6 pm. A few positive things that happened after the unfortunate incidents are the unity of people in the city. We all should never forget this and always be united to fight back. We the People can save our country, no one else... We are respected for our strength and our humble hearts, let’s do the right thing - fight for peace, not war.

Priyanka Chopra: 26/11... a day to remember our losses and promise ourselves a better future. To the younger generation, I implore you... don’t accept mediocrity, don’t aid corruption, be vigilant and above all, participate in our collective future.

Preity Zinta: To live in one's heart is not to die! Here's remembering all those who lost their lives in the Mumbai attacks. We will not forget.

R Madhavan: I was of the opinion that despite the united front put up by the city post the attacks, not much was done afterwards. I became very emotional when it was happening. I saw the entire thing on television. Once it was over, I thought big decisions would be taken and things would change. But it was very sad to see that this year the voter turnout in Mumbai was even less than last time.

Dino Morea: One year since Mumbai was attacked, I am never cynical, but all the protest marches, voicing anger etc, what's changed? Have no faith in our system, how do we change it, and the people who run it? God bless India.

Sonam Kapoor:Remember this day. Look at it not with grief but with faith, as 'faith is the only light that lights the darkness into dawn' (Rabindranath Tagore). Have faith that our country is strong and the people who lead us will make it stronger, have faith that there is a god and he knows what is best. Learn from past mistakes and know that humanity and goodness always prevail. What does not kill us will make us stronger.

Neha Dhupia: We were shooting when the news broke out but our director Priyadarshan said that we would be not be affected by it and will continue our jobs and that is to entertain people and give them a reason to smile at such times.

Vishal Dadlani: To the soldiers and policemen who saved us, gave their lives for us, thank you. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, God bless you, and may he keep you at his right hand.
