Indian Fashion Week-Day 4
Spicezee Bureau
The fourth day of the WLIFW kicked off with designer Adbul Halder’s exclusive collection of designs. Rich, deep hues and bold creativity is what defined this show. The Victorian era was borrowed heavily from and blended with sophistication. Adding celeb power to the designer’s glamourous styles, actor Rahul Dev swaggered along the ramp in boldly creative tight blue pants with a pink and blue leather jacket.
Also the eccentric styles from Nida Mahmood were worth accolades. Non-conformist techniques, the use of bright bold colours, garish designs and a touch of bling set designer Nida Mehmood's show apart from the others.
Designer Sonia Jetleey presented a line which was feminine and comfortable on the eyes, the Indian-wear was delicate and chic while the casual wear was funky and fun.
Elisha W's dreamy, sensual and mystical collection, displaying a sense of romance, were also showcased on Day 4. Her lovely flowing gowns were all the more feminine and alluring at the same time.
And when on of the favourite designers in Bollywood, Vikram Phadnis, presented a collection sans his Bollywood buddies, it was still one such power house performance.
“Drifting away from my usual style that's full of embroidery and detailing, I chose to go a little different by keeping this collection very simple. The focus was more on fabrics, colours, cuts and prints, all of which reveals the very essence of life," Phadnis said.
Although there were rumours that Vikram would bring Shahid Kapur on the ramp, but the actor was nowhere to be found. When asked, Phadnis said, "It's a catch 22 situation. When I bring celebs, people accuse me of drifting from main stream fashion and when I don't get a Bollywood show-stopper, you ask why I haven't invited anyone! I've done that in past and I will keep doing it next time. This time, I didn’t want to take the real drama away from my collection by bringing in a celebrity."
Where saris comprised a stronghold in Phadnis' collection, it was a formal affair from Sunita and Lalit Jalan with their line of ethnic wear for the coming spring-summer season. While the menswear experimented with more unconventional colours, the ladieswear line played with cuts and silhouettes.
Day 4 of the WLIFW also saw Payal Jain's fresh and breezy summery collection. Talking about her designs, Payal said, "This collection has a traveler's reflection which focuses on gypsy chic attained through casual richness, vibrant brights and bold prints which are classic, comprehensive, sophisticated and homogeneous."
Nevertheless, the highlight of the show was Bollywood actress Chitrangada, who sizzled on the ramp in a sensuous white gown for designer Anita Dongre.
Thereafter, the collection called 'Amore', by Swapan and Seema, was showcased, as homage to the season of Love. The classic cuts, simple lines and intricate embroidery in their creations make the collection worth a look.
